Heather Jones, PhD

Professor of Psychology 

Heather A. Jones, Ph.D. is a Professor (tenured) in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University and the director of the Integrated Primary Care Training Collaborative. Dr. Jones is committed to preparing the next generation of behavioral health providers through interdisciplinary, evidence-based, and trauma-informed training in integrated primary care settings. Her work focuses on improving access to high-quality behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and families, particularly within high need, medically underserved communities.

As Director of the VCU Integrated Primary Care Training Collaborative (IPCTC), Dr. Jones provides leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program's interdisciplinary training initiatives. She oversees trainee recruitment, curriculum development, clinical training experiences, and partnerships with healthcare and community organizations to ensure high-quality education in integrated behavioral health care. Her teaching, research, and professional interests focus on workforce development, integrated care, and mentoring. Through her leadership, Dr. Jones is committed to strengthening the behavioral health workforce and preparing graduate students to provide evidence-based, trauma-informed care in healthcare settings.
