I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After working for three years as a research assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on two teams dedicated to community-based violence and aggression prevention research, I enrolled at VCU in the clinical psychology doctoral program (concentration: child/adolescent) in 2016. My main research interests surround how to increase African American children’s utilization of mental health services and improve mental health literacy in these communities. More specifically, I have been evaluating aggression and conduct problems in African American children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and how these problems influence the context of parenting in these families. I am most interested in conducting research in primary care and school-based settings with underserved African American children and families. My main clinical interests involve implementation of culturally competent, evidence-based treatments for externalizing disorders.
